The weather
They say that we Dutchies love to complain about the weather but seriously, this is something to complain about;
Heavy weather is upon us. Dammit it is May, it is supposed to be warmer not lightning storms and rain, gray skies each and every time.
The hard way of life
Time flies it’s crazy, I remember new years day like it was yesterday and now we are steadily heading towards my birthday. And though time flies it doesn’t mean that things have been easy. In fact everything has been really hard. A lot of things from the past have been screaming for attention. Things I thought I had dealt with, apparently not.
I am glad that I was able to talk with some people who really mean a lot to me. So thanks for that! 
But if what I have tried to do in the past wasn’t enough I will deal with it now. I am determined to survive and to be able to live life to the fullest. Because I deserve that.
Pinkpop 2010
If you know me then you know that I love going to Pinkpop a three day festival which is held yearly in my hometown. Each year I am looking forward to it and when the three days are over I can’t wait till the next year.
Well this year for some reason they have announced the first few bands in December already and the tickets are already on sale. Each year there are about 35 to 40 bands who perform in the three day period and these last couple of years I loved making predictions on who could possibly be asked to perform and of course hope that certain bands would get a chance.
Over the last few years I have made some pretty accurate predictions, in 2005 I said (as a joke) that Beth Hart would come and that she would perform on Monday (which is the last and most important day) on the main stage. Guess where she was on Pinkpop Monday! Exactly, on the main stage.
Last year I expressed my wish to get a chance to see the Counting Crows and Alanis Morrisette, and much to my excitement and surprise they where added to the line up with as one of the last additions. I had honestly no idea that either were working on a new cd so there was as far as I knew no real reason to invite them.
Of course last year Krezip announced that the band would stop making music in July, I hoped that Krezip would make one last appearance at Pinkpop. I have always loved their music and I was so happy when I got one final chance to see them at their last concert in Limburg (The southern part of the Netherlands). But then all of the sudden chances turned when one group had to cancel their performance, apparently they tried to get a foreign band to take their place but with two days till the start of the festival there was no way that was going to happen.
Krezip had their big break during Pinkpop 2000, and nine years later it was one of their last concerts. The last one before the actual ‘Goodbye’ concert.
Krezip at Pinkpop in 2009 was my wish, it was what I hoped from the minute I heard that the band was quiting.
Well this year I decided to post here because instead of just telling one person. I thought that it would be fun if I made the predictions, hopes and wished hsere and see how many I actually have correct when the festival starts.
At this moment confirmed are;
I hoped that Pearl Jam would come but that ain’t gonna happen … unfortunately due to their tour shedule … too bad, I really would have liked to see them live.
Also there have been mentioning of The Editors, which would be awesome! And strong rumors about Green Day, that would be so cool. Other bands I would really like to see are Kings of Leon, maybe Owl City. Train, they have a huge hit right now with ‘Hey soul sister’ and Lifehouse. Oh, the Gorillaz, do they actually perform?). One Republic, 30 Seconds to Mars, they are popular as well. And with the sudden popularity and promotion of the song Bomba on 3FM Kontrust has a chance as well, I think. And I heard some gossip about … sorry rumors about Gossip. We need more women at Pinkpop so I also vote for The Veronica’s and Terra Naomi (not that anyone overhere besides me knows her but that would be so cool).
Also Dutch bands like for instance Rigby, Miss Montreal, Destine and Delain, Go back to the ZOO as well as of course Within Temptation are very welcome. I have already had the chance to see Within Temptation twice at Pinkpop but I really like them so they can come back. Maybe Caro Emerald, I think it could work in the tent stage … yeah that would be cool.
In the past few years we have had the Scissor Sisters and Katy Perry … I know who I would like to see on that stage but that will never happen. Just think extravagant and you’ll know who I am thinking about.
And there are always some bands who rock at these kind of festivals and who I always hope to see again and again … and ehm yeah again those are of course Beth Hart, Maria Mena, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Muse and as I said up there already Within Temptation.
The Pinkpop Press Conference is tomorrow so a good number of bands will be known tomorrow. Although the last 8 bands or so will be announced during April and May.
This is purely a list of what I hope, wish and would really like to see … nothing more nothing less.
New website!!!
Yes, it is here! My new website design, finally!
As I said in my last post I talked about switching hosts and that I was going to change my website design and this is the result. For the first time I have used Illustrator as my primary design program instead of Photoshop as I usually do.
I took an existing wordpress theme and adjusted it to my needs, and my own design and colour sheme. I am going to soon open the rest of my website as well but at the moment I am still working out some kinks.
Website and computer trouble
I switched hosts and took advantage of the situation and started to rebuild my website from scratch. I choose to switch hosts because well I could get a cheaper deal and really didn’t need the humongous amount of space I used to have. What I have now is more then enough. And I switched from a American host to a Dutch host which hopefully will simplify some other things as well. Don’t get me wrong I was happy with my old host but a Dutch host will make certain things easier.
Anyway that is besides the point and not important at all the important part is that the website is back online and that the updates have been done. I added some new elements and took out some of the older stuff. Also I finally got around to finishing the work that I had been doing behind the scenes on ‘Sketch’ and I have fused my ‘Nano-blog’ and my ‘Fic archive’ into one website.

Today ten years ago …
Can you believe it, today ten years ago we were convinced that the world as we know it was coming to an end. After all at the stroke of midnight all computer systems would fail and where would we be without computers. But midnight came and went and … nothing happened.
Well of course there where huge fireworks, and we wished each other a wonderful New Year and not to forget a great new millennium. And here we are ten years later!
I remember that I thought that 2000 would be the best year ever after all I was turning 18 on the brink of adulthood in such a special year. But 2000 was nothing special it was just another year and all the fears that people had around the world turned out to be unnecessary.
And now here we are ten years later, the first decade of this century has passed so quickly I can hardly believe it. I finished two college educations, I moved out of my parents house and not only that I moved to a different part of the Netherlands. I lived in a house with 4 other students for 6 years I worked at three different companies for my traineeships. And of course I dropped out of that proverbial closet when it comes to my bisexuality. I spend three years working at a warehouse. And of course I got my driving license.
But the last couple of years have been the best. I finally found the job that I had been looking for, I work at a screen printing company. A family like business where I feel totally at home. I have gained and lost some friends over the years some I am better off with anyways others I still miss dearly. And of course one of those friends made me an ‘aunty’ when she declared that her son is my nephew. That thought me a great deal about myself, being around a child. I guess that when people see me interact with him they are surprised, I don’t know why. Just because I never really had the chance to be around small children doesn’t mean that I don’t like them. But enough about that, that would be a discussion for a whole other time.
The last huge change in this last year was that officially as off midnight tonight I live in my own apartment for a year! A concept which I totally cannot grasp, it has been a year already! I can’t believe it! A year, 4 seasons, 52 weeks, 356 days, 525 600 minutes … crazy!
Time flies that is what I certainly learned over these last ten years, so treasure every moment and make sure that you make enough memories to last you a lifetime.

NaNoWriMo Winner! – 1 month 50 000 words
I did it!!!! I made it!
50 000 words in a month!
I still can’t believe it really, but yes I did manage it. The story is probably about half way done but I know that it can become a great story once I finish it. Like any story I ever write there is lots of drama, followed by fluffy lovin’ once the drama is out of the way. I know that the story still has a long way to go and that there will be lots of editing as well but I am very sure that I will finish it.
Nanowrimo update
We are halfway through the Nanowrimo challenge and I am doing well but not good by a long shot. My story is coming along nicely but I am way behind of schedule. Anyway I have set up a nanoblog were I write about the ongoing project.
Once a skater …
I love skating, I always did.
Tonight I had another lesson and finally I learned to skate backwards. I am not good at it yet, but at least I now know how to accomplish skating backwards!
Funny thing is that I am better at making a backwards turn then the actual backwards skating … that is just so typically me!!!
